Liquid Sensor Based on Interaction between Decoupled Waveguides and a Cavity with Transverse Offset in a Phononic Crystal

A liquid sensor employing a cavity in the form of point defect with transverse offset along normal bisector barrier at center linear waveguide two-dimensional phononic crystal, which gives rise to two decoupled waveguides, is proposed. The crystal consists cylindrical steel rods 2.0 mm radius water, arranged 4.2 lattice constant square lattice. Linear waveguides are formed by removing single row from whereas substituting rod polyethylene tubing comprising analyte interest. acts as cross-bridge between through interaction mode input mode, turn interacts output mode. Finite-element method simulations reveal that frequencies around 200 kHz, sharp peak quality factor order 1000 occurs transmission spectrum system, where resonant occurs. In case determining ratio methanol ethanol an instance, it found frequency exhibits quadratic shift molar methanol. On other hand, value decreases exponentially increasing 196.19 for pure ethanol. proposed sensing scheme can be utilized many applications such identification fake beverages and high-throughput concentration measurements industry.
